Amy is a 2009 cum laude graduate of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences: Health and Wellness Promotion. Blessed with the gift of hospitality and a deep love for people, Amy has significant experience cooking and caring for large groups in camp and conference settings. She learned about the FOT internship at Tenwek from her brother-in-law, Dr. Michael Chen, who is serving at the hospital through Samaritan’s Purse.
In Amy’s own words:
“At the time, I was working in Pennsylvania and was ready for something different, but I was thinking different meant moving back to Colorado. I prayed about it and talked with family and friends and it seemed like a neat opportunity. I’d been interested in hospitality and missions for a while but the timing had never been right. Plus, I was excited to have the opportunity to live next to my sister and brother-in-law for a year!
“God clearly opened doors through the timing of my different commitments and through bringing in all the money I needed for my year here.
“I’m excited to be able to interact with all the visiting staff that come through Tenwek. My goal is to help them thrive during their time here whether that’s providing a listening ear, praying for them, planning fun games and movie nights, or organizing trips out into the community.”
